Residential Care

Prestwood House and Prestwood Coach House provide 24-hour personal care and support for those that need a significant level of assistance in their daily lives even though they may have no complex nursing needs. We provide accommodation, meals, activities and personal care at both homes. Personal care can include support with daily living activities such as getting up or going to bed, dressing and undressing, washing and bathing, with eating and drinking, visits to the toilet and continence management.  Prestwood Lodge offers residential accommodation and facilities for the more independent person – full details of the admission criteria for Prestwood Lodge can be found under the Care Homes section.

There are a range of reasons for needing this type of support and care and at Prestwood we can provide a safe, caring environment with an open-door policy that allows residents and visitors to come and go as they please and to encourage independent living as much as possible.

We motivate all residents to stay active and to participate in activities that take place in the home, as well as trips out into the local community.

We provide a complete range of accommodation catering for all residential needs to those over the age of 65, and accept both long and short-term clients, subject to a pre-admission assessment undertaken by our Director of Nursing.

So that we can deliver the most appropriate package of care for each individual the detailed pre-admission assessment takes into account the “whole person”.  We take time to discuss social needs as well as medical needs, the aims and desired outcomes for each person so that their individual needs and wants can be met accordingly.  Where possible we will include family, relatives and other health care professionals in the assessment process.

Whilst we may be able to accommodate individuals with a dementia diagnosis, subject to assessment and suitability criteria, we are unable to accommodate those clients whose dementia care is their primary need. This is, in part, due to our open-door policy, as we like to give our clients and their visitors the freedom to come and go as they please and we don’t consider that to be a suitable environment for an advanced dementia client. Our admission criteria is intended to ensure we can adequately meet the needs of each individual and if we feel we are unable to accept any individual, or that their admission would adversely affect the other residents, we will advise accordingly.

Our fees include full personal care and vary according to the specific accommodation chosen; we accept privately-funded clients and clients who are partly or fully funded by Social Services.
